Periodontal Treatments

Treatment Options

If you’ve been diagnosed with periodontal disease, ongoing care is essential to protecting your gums, teeth, and overall oral health. While periodontal disease cannot be completely reversed, it can be effectively controlled and maintained with the right treatment and consistent care.

We begin with non-surgical periodontal therapy whenever appropriate. If more advanced treatment is needed, we may refer you to a trusted periodontist for specialized care.

Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal therapy is a deeper form of dental cleaning designed to treat gum disease. During treatment, specialized instruments are used to carefully remove plaque, tartar, and bacteria from below the gumline and around the roots of the teeth. This helps create a healthier environment for the gums and prevents periodontal disease from progressing.

Because periodontal disease is a chronic condition, treatment does not end once your initial periodontal therapy is complete. Instead of returning to regular dental cleanings, periodontal patients require ongoing periodontal maintenance visits to help keep the condition under control.

Consistent home care is also important. Brushing and flossing daily, maintaining a healthy diet, avoiding tobacco use, and keeping up with your recommended periodontal maintenance schedule can all help protect your oral health.

Advanced Periodontal Treatment

In some cases, periodontal disease can cause more significant damage to the gums, bone, or other structures supporting the teeth. If advanced periodontal treatment or surgery is necessary, we will refer you to a trusted periodontist who can provide the specialized care you need.

Our team will continue to work with you and your specialist to support your periodontal health and maintain your results over time.
